It's been years since I last build something out of Lego bricks! I received this set as a Christmas gift - despite the fact that I am 23 years old... and I very much enjoyed putting everything together. :)
The instructions were easy to follow and there's definitely some attention to detail. The set comes with five Lego figures (Harry, Luna, Draco, Ron and Ginny) and they're quite adorkable. It took me about 2 hours to put the entire thing together.
I'm sure it's a fun toy for children - and it also makes a nice display item for adult fans of Harry Potter.

I have just sat down with my 7 year old and built this together with him. He was given it for his birthday, having recently got into Harry Potter in a big way.
He already loved lego, cars and trains, so what a combination! Recommended age on the box is from 8 years old, but he coped well with a little help. I made sure that the stickers went on straight. He loves the little doors and hinged flaps that keep the cases and small parts. My fingers are a bit too big to cope with that.
The build quality is excellent and the finished product looks very robust. My son is thrilled with it. He has put it away for now in a special box in his room so that it keeps clean and dust free, but I know it will be out again soon.

I gave these boats to my twin grandsons for their 7th birthday last week. We sailed them on the boating lake at Stoke Park, Guildford. They so enjoyed themselves and they found the boats easy to handle. One thing I would say (and the manufacturer's should take note), if the boat hits the side of the pond or the struts of the bridge it moves the power pack and the boat stops which can cause a problem. Perhaps it just needs some tweaking.
Overall, a good purchase. We will try them on their large paddling pool next with the scoops on the front and the ball.

Postman Pat Ted Glens Workshop with Vehicle

Don't be fooled by the picture. The walls and floor of the workshop are made of very thin card printed (on both sides) to look like a workshop. This is what is meant by "double sided scenic card" in the product description. The workshop floor was ripped while the item was being opened and will soon be going in the bin. So we're left with a PAT 4 van, a Ted Glen figure, a plastic workbench, a flat plastic trolley for Ted to lie on, and a plastic service ramp for the van. My son really wanted the PAT 4 van (same as a normal PAT 1 van but with the SDS stripes). There seems to be no way of buying this except with Ted's workshop. Not good value for money.

BRIO 33700 My First Railway Set

Although most Brio is not recommended for children younger than 3 years old, this set is designated as being OK from 18 months old up. We bought it for our son's second birthday, and he absolutely adores it. The pieces all seem very robust, and there is relatively limited scope for him to do much damage with the pieces if he throws a tantrum. For instance the house is made of a soft material. Learning how to run the train on and off the tracks, keep it on the track, run it through the house and use the right magnet on each carriage to connect to the others has proved to be an absorbing exercise in physical and mental dexterity. Apart from the elegant simplicity of the tracks itself, all the pieces are brightly coloured with familiar fruits on the side of the carriages.
Of course, the real beauty of this system is that you can carry on adding track, rolling stock and accessories as the child gets older. Talking of the track, despite it seeming to be a relatively straightforward piece of construction, we have found that other makes of Brio-like track are of noticeably poorer manufacture and in some cases (such as that from Ikea) do not interconnect well. You may well pay more for the Brio brand name, but judging by the quality of this set, it is probably worth the extra.

This was what our 2 year old grandson enjoyed most of all his birthday presents. Just like any little boy he loves transport and having a basic set to build on was ideal. No doubt it will be added to at Christmas and beyond. When I used to teach 4-5 year olds, a parent donated an already well used Brio train set. It was a favourite toy with all the children and it stood up to many further years of play by many boys and girls. The magnetic engine and trucks also add to the fun - and educational quality of this set.

Myself and a friend bought this for our 5 year old sons for christmas last year.
It looks fantastic and is fairly easy to set up. The kids controlled the cars quickly without them shooting off the track. The biggest problem is the contact, if you dont keep the trigger squeezed the car just stops, it then has to be pushed to get it going again. I have tried changing the wire contact brushes but it made no difference. it seems as if parts of the track have no power. I have pushed each part together without success. As a result my son (and his friends) get fed up with having to get up and push the car every 5 seconds and after about 10 minutes are bored of it. One even saying it was "rubbish!"
As I said its not just my track, my friend has the same problem and the other day my son had a play date and when I picked him up I saw they had the track too - I enquired if it worked ok - it turns out they have exactly the same problem!

I gave this to my 5 year old son for Christmas and he loves it. It's a bit fiddly to set up and takes up a lot of room but he enjoys it. He's got problems with the cars zooming off the tracks round the corners but I think this is a normal Scaletrix problem.

Some quite fiddly little bits which would make it quite a difficult model to construct for those not used to that kind of construction kit. But it seems to be accurately modelled, and combined with the the Forward Control models, it makes an attractive diorama. Of interest to both military modellers and land rover fans.

I bought this for my son when he was 2 years old. There aren't many toy planes on the market and he was delighted with this one. It struck my rational adult mind as fairly odd to have a tiger as a travelling companion - my little boy thought this was amazing.
The figures of the pilot and tiger are satisfyingly smaller (about 5cm at their longest points) than many other toddler toys but are sturdy and safe. The plane itself is a good size for little hands to grasp solidly. The plane's friction action makes a pleasing noise as it revs along. There is a small swivel area on the plane's tail which allows you to view a range of pictures of make-believe contents of the plane.
This was such a great toy that we bought many other sets from the 'WOW' range and have not been disappointed in any of them. My son is now 4 1/2 and the toys are still played with regularly and still look as good as new.

My 16 month old boy loves this toy so so much. Very durable, good value for money and the most amazing feature is the propella..guess what? They work! Highly recommend it

I particularly wanted one of these for my child (and me!) as I remember having a similar set as part of a layout given to me as a child.
This is how train sets should be, with an excellent operating accessory to get the child interested, rather than just a normal oval of track. With this set you get a mail coach which picks up a mail bag from one side of the track and automatically drops it into a bin on the other side of the oval.
Great stuff and fantastice value for money at Amazon's low price too!

my 10 years old son loved this train. The coaches are very detailed, and it is a beauty to see it running around.

My granddaughter loves busses so this was a cheap and cheerful buy. Quite basic but the bus is played with often.

I ordered this little bus for an art installation I was making, so can't really comment on its durability/usefulness as a toy. But I thought it was amazingly good value - it's very detailed, even has little seats inside. It arrived promptly, even in the snow in the depths of the Cotswolds.

Bertie was first featured in TV Season 1 (1984) in Episode 14 (Thomas ; Bertie's Great Race), and on the original TnP Spring 2010 Collector Checklist. Bertie's always ready to help, and he ; Thomas have been good friends since their great race! Fisher-Price's MSRP is $6.00, and I paid just a little over that ($6.29) for my grandson's. It'll be interesting to see if another non-rail vehicle - Winston (a maroon automobile) - becomes available in the TnP line with the September 2012 release of the Blue Mountain Mystery movie!

Well priced, well packaged "toy". The Blue Rapier is being used as part of a large railway layout. Even though it is at the cheaper end of the market, the detail is very good, with the added bonus of being able to add more coaches as ; when.
The train runs smoothly with the track ; controller that comes with the set.

We bought this train set for the grandson aged 8. After reading the reviews we were a bit concerned re stories of derailing, however this was not the case. You will not have a derailing problem if you make sure the tracks are all properly connected and it is all on a flat surface. This train travels at full speed round the track forward and in reverse and has not derailed once. The fast/slow speeds are easily operated. The whole package comes with a matt which we have pasted onto a board and it looks great. We added a small station and a couple of other things and to be honest we have been playing with it ourselves. We are looking forward to extending the track in time. So all in all a great buy.

The 1/18 scale red Ferrari 458 Italia by XQ Toys is great value and provides hours of entertainment for kids and dads alike. The car looks great and the engine is powerful enough to make it swerve and do impressive manoevres. I bought this classy sportscar for my son (5) for Christmas and he spent most of Boxing Day playing with it. At the end of the day he said: 'You know Dad, I think this is my favourite car of all times."
Surprisingly, the batteries are still doing well after several weeks, so even the engine is fairly economical for a Ferrari! ;)

Goods arrived on stated day and were in good condition. Sometimes these remote controlled cars can just be all noise and no fun, but this one was good. Very lifelike also.

I really would not call this a toy as I got it for my son as a new school bag. However, in saying that both my kids use their school bags when they pretend play going on a plane, or for a pretend picnic in the park (the back garden) and then my son's toy cars go in the bag as pretend sandwiches, crisps, etc... My son loves it.
