    Customer Reviews

We bought the repair shed/chug wash for our 2.5 year old today. We are all fans of Chuggington and thought we'd give it a go as a special treat (and a change from the much loved wooden trains).
Our son is quite happy playing with it. He's enjoying himself very much and happily creating his own scenarios with his chuggers. So, overall, he likes it and we are happy to let him play with it.
However, we are a bit disappointed with the quality. It's not bad, but we were expecting something a bit more robust given that the chuggers are diecast and take a beating. This set is all plastic and just feels a bit cheap. Our son also is desperately trying to get a line of linked up trains to go through and it only handles one at a time really. Understandable, but frustrating for a 2.5 year old. The sounds made are fine. I would have liked the chug scan to say something in it's robotic voice rather than a generic swooshing scanning sound, but it's not a big deal.
So, overall, we're happy to see our son playing with it and happy with it, but has caused us to think further about investing in any additional pieces of the Chuggington world (other than chuggers which are fab). I think Learning Curve missed a trick with this set. It could have been brilliant rather than just OK.

I was annoyed that the makers of this range didn't make it compatible with Brio/big-jigs rail, and so didn't buy it. My son already has quite a lot of Brio track, and I didn't want the house cluttered up with more plastic tracks etc.
But then Amazon offered this item at a significantly reduced price, and I thought I'd give it go.
Although the track, the rotator, washdown etc are all well made, the whole thing is so SMALL that my son got bored with it really quickly. His wooden track on the other hand is versatile and he can use his imagination to build different tracks every day. There's none of that with this set, and really, you'd need to buy alot more of it to make it interesting in the long term.
I think the makers of the Chuggington range have really missed a trick here. Don't bother.
